Our mission is simple: To provide an affordable option to youth wishing to enjoy the great sport of hockey. While other hockey associations charge hundreds or even thousands of dollars to participate, we keep our registration fees low to allow more kids to participate. We also provide scholarships to assist families that have difficulties paying the fee. We believe that regardless of economic status every child should be given the chance to play.
There are several ways we work to accomplish this mission. Everyone who represents our organization is a volunteer – there is no compensation of any kind. We do a few fundraisers a year – Wild program sales, spaghetti dinner, and various others – in order to supplement income and as outreach to the community.
As you probably know, hockey is an expensive sport. Depending on the rink, we will pay between $195 and $205 per hour of ice. We supplement this with outdoor ice when we can, but the hockey season starts two months before outdoor ice is available. We also outfit our players with equipment if they have none. Some families in our community cannot afford to add the expense of skates, helmet, breezers, shoulder pads, shin guards, elbow pads, and gloves. We refurbish used equipment and have received some equipment grants - but it is always an ongoing need.
Any donation you could give to help us to accomplish our mission would be greatly appreciated.
